Best Accounting Software for Singapore SMEs (2026)
Published 2026-06-29

Quick Answer: For most Singapore SMEs in 2026, the strongest options are Xero (the all-rounder, from S$39/month), QuickBooks Online (budget-friendly, from S$15.50/month), Financio (Singapore-native, flat S$20/month with unlimited users), Zoho Books (best if you already use Zoho, with a free tier for very small businesses) and ABSS (formerly MYOB, for desktop-style accounting). All five support InvoiceNow, which matters because new GST registrants must adopt it from 1 April 2026. Many of these solutions are also claimable under the Productivity Solutions Grant at 50% co-funding.
Choosing accounting software is one of the first operational decisions a new Singapore company makes — and one of the stickiest, because migrating later is painful. The good news is that the market has matured: every serious platform now handles GST, IRAS-compliant reporting and the move to electronic invoicing. The differences come down to price, ecosystem and how much complexity you actually need.
The cloud all-rounders
Xero remains the default recommendation for growing SMEs that want a deep app ecosystem, strong bank feeds and clean GST handling. Singapore pricing (effective from late 2025) is roughly S$39/month for Starter, S$70/month for Standard and S$95/month for Premium, inclusive of GST. It is well supported by Singapore accountants — including our own team — which makes outsourcing or handing over your books straightforward.
QuickBooks Online is the value pick, with Simple Start from around S$15.50/month. It covers the essentials — invoicing, expenses, GST and basic reporting — and suits sole proprietors and micro-businesses that do not need a large add-on marketplace.
The Singapore-native option
Financio is built for the local market and prices aggressively at a flat S$20/month with unlimited users — unusual in a market where most platforms charge per seat. For a lean team of three to ten that wants GST and InvoiceNow compliance without paying for global features it will never use, Financio is often the best value.
The ecosystem play
Zoho Books makes most sense if you already run other Zoho tools (CRM, HR, projects). It handles GST competently and offers a genuinely free tier for businesses under roughly US$50,000 in annual revenue, scaling up as you grow.
The established desktop-style option
ABSS (formerly MYOB Singapore) appeals to businesses that prefer a more traditional, installed accounting experience and have used MYOB for years. It remains InvoiceNow-ready and is still widely used in trading and distribution businesses.
Two things every 2026 buyer must check
InvoiceNow readiness. Singapore is moving to mandatory e-invoicing on the InvoiceNow (Peppol) network. From 1 April 2026, newly GST-registered businesses must transmit invoice data through InvoiceNow. Whichever software you pick, confirm it is InvoiceNow-enabled — Xero, QuickBooks, Financio and ABSS all are.
The PSG grant. Many pre-approved accounting packages are claimable under the Productivity Solutions Grant at 50% co-funding, subject to an annual cap of S$30,000 per company per financial year. The grant is paid as a reimbursement, so you must apply and receive the Letter of Offer before signing with the vendor — paying first disqualifies the claim.
So which should you choose?
If you want the safest, most accountant-friendly platform and plan to scale, choose Xero. If budget is the priority, QuickBooks or Financio win. If you live in the Zoho ecosystem, Zoho Books is the obvious fit. The deeper question is usually not which software but who keeps your books accurate — software does not file your taxes or catch errors on its own. That is where an outsourced accounting partner earns its keep. See how our accounting service works or talk to us about the right setup for your business.
